Dear Loyal Fans

October 8, 2010

It has been too long since I’ve posted, and although I still love the music scene, my life has taken a different path since graduation. I moved back home to Harrisburg, Pa where I grew up. I have switched gears and have become a Nightlife Examiner for the Harrisburg area. Because music is a big part of the nightlife scene, there will still be articles on local music. I hope to someday get back to this blog, but until then, show your support and follow me at my Examiner page.

Thanks!

Battle of the Bands 2010

March 4, 2010

The annual fierce competition with the hottest Towson bands took place this past Friday in Paws.

CAB chose seven bands, all with their unique genre of music ranging from funk to hard rock.
Better Without You, Left Hand Out, Shook, The Lake Effect, Run the Risk, Breaking Reign and Camisado were the talented bands selected, but two bands seemed to outshine the rest according to the audience.

Breaking Reign and Shook proved to be the two competing for the number one spot. Shook with a new funk rock synth sound, and Breaking Reign with a hip hop vibe.

With the winner up in the air until the end of the night, CAB finally announced Breaking Reign at the winner.

Breaking Reign will be playing with N.E.R.D. at this year’s Tigerfest.

The Who -Super Bowl 2010

February 8, 2010

The Who performed this year’s Super Bowl. I was happy to see their old look didn’t reflect their sound. They still have it! It just blows my mind that a band can still perform like that after all these years. I hope I can still bust out a note when I’m in my 70s.

The Grammys 2010 pt. 6

February 1, 2010

Dave Matthews Band performs You and Me. There is something about this band that really stirs up my feelings. I think it is the unique voice of Dave Matthews himself.

Female Pop Vocal Performance: Beyonce “Halo”

Maxwell performs “Pretty Wings”

Drake, Lil Wayne, and Eminem perform “Forever”. It would be less irritating if CBS didn’t have to censor the entire song, but of course we understand why they must.

Album of the Year: Taylor Swift “Fearless”
“This is the story we will be telling over and over again that we won the Album of the year in 2010.”

The Grammys 2010 pt. 5

February 1, 2010

The Michael Jackson tribute was amazing and well deserved. Iwish I would have kept my 3D glasses from the Avatar movie, but either way all the performers were exceptional.

I can’t believe how much bigger his kids are. I wish it lasted longer than it did.

The Grammy’s moved on the Bon Jovi who still does a great job on stage despite how much older he is getting. He always looks like he is having the best time of his life.

Best Rap/Sung Collaboration: Jay-Z with Rihanna “Run This Town”

A performance by Mary J. Blige and Andrea Bocelli gave a special fund raising performance for Haiti.

The Grammys 2010 pt.4

February 1, 2010

Best Rock Album: Green Day- 21st Century Breakdown “And now I’m going to have shots with Kings of Leon.” (All this shot talk)

Green Day's winning album

The Zac Brown Band begins their performance with America the Beautiful transitioning into Leon Russel on the piano.

Taylor Swift performs Fairytale. I love her. She’s a beautiful girl and amazing song writer, but I truly wouldn’t care if I saw her perform live ever again. She’s a recording artist, and probably should stay away from the live mic.

Stevie Nicks joined Swift which helped me stay tuned in.

The Grammys 2010 pt. 3

February 1, 2010

Black Eyed Peas hit the stage. I’ve commented on their stage performance before. Fergie must have stumbled upon my post because I believe they stepped it up. I think it was required for the Grammys.

Record of the Year: Use Somebody -Kings of Leon “Whoever I forgot, I’ll buy you shots after.”

Jamie Foxx featuring T-Pain performed “Blame it on the Alcohol.” It was just what this crowd needed to pump it up. The intro was very interesting, but what was more interesting was the large female back-up dancer. I enjoyed it.

OTC side note: Kesha tries too hard to have some sort of attitude. Not sure where she’s going with that.

The Grammys 2010 pt. 2

February 1, 2010

Although Pink’s bathrobe isn’t doing it for me, but O WAIT. Did she just get naked? Well her birthday suit I think works better than that robe. What a beautiful performance. How many people can say they can sing upside down naked and wet? The Grammy’s really highlight these talented people.

Best New Artist: Zac Brown Band

Zac Brown Band

The Grammy’s 2010 pt.1

February 1, 2010

Lady Gaga and Elton John open up the night with nothing less than an incredible performance. Gaga never ceases to amaze.

Song of the year: Single Ladies by Beyonce

Green Day fills the stage with a powerful performance.

Best Country Album: Taylor Swift (of course)

Beyonce blows it away with If I Were A Boy but….
When Beyonce transitions to You Oughta Know by Alanis Morissette, I lost it. I’m amazed and speechless.

Menya on Jersey Shore

January 24, 2010

In my page Menya Makes Moves, I told you the band was going places, but I did not predict that soon after their music would be making an appearance on the new hit reality MTV show Jersey Shore. About halfway through episode 7, Menya’s DTF played for a good 5 seconds to open back up the show after a commercial.

Considering the content of the show, I like to think DTF was a good song choice.

Inside sources say that Menya beats will be featured again in season two of Jersey Shore with a longer clip. Their name will also be labeled at the bottom so it will stand out more.

SO continue watching the Jersey Shore, and look out for Menya’s beats popping up in high places.
